Find It in Everything (2014) was a photography project, a visual meditation on the shape of a heart as it appears in the natural world — in the patterns of leaves, stones, foam on coffee, light on pavement. It is a slender project compared to the others, more gesture than argument, but it reflects the same underlying impulse: to find meaning and beauty in the details of the world, to attend to what is present rather than to mourn what is absent.
## The Children Drew Barrymore Is Raising
Olive Barrymore Kopelman was born in September 2012. Frankie Barrymore Kopelman was born in April 2014. They are Drew’s daughters with Will Kopelman, the art consultant she married in June 2012 and separated from in 2016.
Drew Barrymore has been careful, throughout their lives, to limit what she says publicly about her daughters. She mentions that she loves them, that they are the center of her life, that the choices she makes are informed by the person she wants to be for them. She does not narrate their childhoods, describe their personalities in detail, or use them as material for her public persona. Given that Drew’s own childhood was thoroughly narrated and publicly documented in ways that caused her harm, this restraint is clearly intentional.
What she has said, in general terms, about her approach to parenting reflects the understanding she has developed about what children need and what the absence of those things costs. She has described wanting to be present for her daughters in ways her own parents were not present for her. She has described the specific pleasure of ordinary domestic stability — routines, meals together, the reliable structure that her own childhood lacked. She has described the move to Manhattan in 2023 partly in terms of wanting to make it easier for her daughters to see their father regularly, prioritizing their relationship with Will Kopelman over whatever considerations might have pulled her in a different direction.
