Feige invited Quan to join the MCU. The offer, as Quan has described it, was direct and gracious: Feige asked if he wanted to join. Quan, who had joked during the awards season that he was waiting for only a handful of major directors to call, updated his joke to include Feige.
The role was OB — a character in *Loki* Season 2, an archivist at the Time Variance Authority, the mysterious organization at the center of that series’ time-manipulation storylines. Quan describes 2022 as one of the happiest years of his life, and the specific texture of that happiness — winning at awards ceremonies, being offered Marvel roles, being recognized by industry figures who had not previously made room for him — is earned happiness, the kind that means more because of what preceded it.
He also appeared in *American Born Chinese*, the Disney+ series based on Gene Luen Yang’s graphic novel, again alongside Michelle Yeoh — their second consecutive collaboration after *Everything Everywhere All at Once*. The reunion was not incidental: Yeoh and Quan had developed a working relationship on the A24 film and the *American Born Chinese* production sought to build on it.
## The First Lead Role: Love Hurts
In 2025, Ke Huy Quan appeared as the lead actor in *Love Hurts*, an action-comedy in which he plays Marvin Gable, a mild-mannered real estate agent in Milwaukee who is also, as it turns out, a former assassin. His mob-boss brother (played by Daniel Wu) hunts him down when his former partner resurfaces.
