## Rachel’s Independent Goals, Which Are Not About Daniel

The article for the Alliance quarterly is underway. I have a first draft of twelve pages, which will need to come down to eight for the format, and which contains the core argument but needs one more revision to be tight enough. I am going to spend the week before Thanksgiving on it.

The spring conference slot is confirmed. Julia is putting me on the main track, which means a larger room and a longer session, ninety minutes rather than sixty. I have done ninety-minute sessions before but not at a conference this size. I have been thinking about the specific shape of the session for two months, which is longer than I usually think about things before I start drafting.

The Indiana logistics client is in implementation. I have two monthly check-in calls remaining before the engagement closes. They have implemented three of the eight recommendations from the October report, and the early indicators on two of them are good. The third is taking longer because it requires a change in how a specific team lead communicates with his reports, and that kind of change has a different timeline from a process change. I am watching it.

I have one new inquiry from a professional services firm in Cleveland that came through the Alliance referral network. I am meeting them next week for an initial scoping conversation. The firm is larger than my typical client, which is both interesting and slightly outside my established expertise, and I am spending some time before the meeting deciding what I think about taking that on versus referring them to someone whose practice runs at that scale.
