The drain being fixed was good. The plumber having been called by someone other than me or Daniel, without asking either of us, was the part I kept returning to.

She had a slow drain and she fixed it. This is the description of the thing that makes it sound fine. She identified a household problem and addressed it. This is also the description of the thing that makes it sound like something a homeowner does, not a houseguest.

I did not say anything about the plumber. I thanked her for handling it. The moment passed.

The calendar was the one that required the most revision on my end afterward. We kept a shared calendar, Daniel and I — phones synced, shared family calendar for joint events. In October, Patricia had begun adding items to it.

Not to the family calendar we had shared with her, but to our main household calendar.

I do not know when she got access to the main calendar. She must have asked Daniel for it at some point for some innocuous reason, and he must have added her without thinking about the difference between read access and edit access. The first time I noticed something added was a reminder for a dentist appointment she had that I had not put there. The second time was a note she had added: Carol visiting for lunch Saturday.

Carol is Daniel’s sister. Carol’s visiting is a thing that can happen and is not inherently a problem. Carol visiting on a Saturday noted on our household calendar as a fait accompli without anyone confirming whether Saturday worked for Maya was a thing that was a problem.
