I called Jordan Ellis that Wednesday morning.

Jordan picked up on the second ring, which I appreciated. I explained the situation as professionally as I could: I was the named client on the Willowmere contract, I had experienced a change in circumstances regarding my attendance at the event, and I was inquiring about the transfer clause I had seen in the contract. I was not trying to cancel the booking or default on the contract. I was asking about the process for a legitimate transfer of client and payment responsibility if all parties agreed.

Jordan was, as she had been in September, completely professional and calm.

“Yes,” she said, “we do handle transfers. We’ve done a few. I’d need to reach out to the other party to confirm they’re willing to take on the client status and the remaining payment schedule. And obviously all of this needs to be in writing, and the thirty-day window is firm — we can’t do a transfer after that point.”

“I understand,” I said. “The thirty-day window is still open — the wedding is six weeks out.”

“It is,” she said. “Do you have contact information for who would be assuming the client role?”

I gave her Claire’s number and email. I also gave her Owen’s, because it seemed like something Owen should know about.

Jordan said she would be in contact with them. She was efficient and neutral and gave no indication of any opinion about the family drama she was now tangentially involved in.
